Wet ‘n’ Wild is a water park that offers a variety of activities for children. Emerald Pointe, sometimes known as Wet ‘n Wild or Emerald Pointe, is a water park in Greensboro, North Carolina, United States, that was founded in 1984. It is a member of the Wet ‘n Wild chain of water parks.
The park has 15 slides, 5 pools, and 2 children’s zones. Based on attendance, the Themed Entertainment Association ranks it as the 20th most visited theme park in North America, with 407,000 visitors in 2015. The park’s two major regional competitors are the Carolina Harbor waterpark at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Dollywood’s Splash Waterpark in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
The water park, originally known as Aqua Gardens, opened in September 1983. For a brief period between 1984 and 1986, it went by the moniker Water Country USA. Emerald Pointe was established in 1986 after the park was purchased by a local corporation and renamed.
The site, along with Raging Waters and Wet ‘n Wild’s assets, was purchased by Ogden Corporation in March 1999, and the park was renamed Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe as a result. The public was first introduced to the park’s newest attraction, Bombs Away, at the end of the season in 2019. The attraction was initially scheduled to launch for the 2020 season. The Pandemic of Covid-19 has caused a postponement of the opening of the attraction until the 2022 Season.
